Hello. I'm new at chito-ryu and would be very interested in learning more of the history of it. I enjoyed the web page, but found it tantalizing, because I would have liked more information about some of the people, like Higashi Sensei, and the founder. It's great to be back studying martial arts after 25 years off.

i used to be a member of chito ryu richmond hill dojo. i had to quit because i am starting in private school, and there is not alot of time! i regret it, i trained for 7 years and was 1st kyu, i won lots of tournaments and i had fun. my senseis are great! (ferri) i just want to say that this is a great page and that i hope to return to karate even though i just missed the soke cup!

I have been studying Chito-ryu several years under ShihanTed Ricketts III, whose father ShihanTed II is one of Tsuruoka-Sensei's students. Tsuruoka-Sensei is one of Chitose O-Sensei's students who brought Chito-ryu to Canada. Those of us training und er Shihan Ricketts consider ourselves most fortunate indeed. For myself, among others, martial arts transcend self-defense; it's a way of life and thought. I think Chitose-Sensei would like to see Chito-ryu become united in all respects, to erase the l ines of dissention. This web site is a good start. I have been looking for Chito Ryu related information and was very pleased to find your fine site. I'll check in periodically to see what's new. One question: Is Chito Ryu one of the more popular styles in Canada? My son and I both train at Central Florida Championship Karate, under Shihan Frank Silverman. My son started at 4-1/2 yrs and is also participating in the KICK USA tournaments. After six months of watching him train (read: having a great time), I could no longer resist and I started training too.

First visit to the site, I studied Chito Ryu for several years in the Yukon in the 70's. I have since studied other styles, but I always tell people that my "parent" style is Chitoryu. From time to time I still practice the katas so I will not forget them. Great site, I will return often.
